Meet the Directors
Our Story
Professional Partners was founded in 2004 by friends Sean Herman and Craig Schafner.
They first met when Craig gatecrashed Sean’s barbeque but the men soon became friends and discovered a shared interest in finance. They recognised the potential of their complimentary skill sets and felt that together they could provide the kind of services ambitious achievers really want when it comes to their financial future.
Together, these dynamic and personable finance specialists have spent the last 10+ years helping private clients achieve their property ownership dreams. They consolidate their mortgage broking know-how with qualifications in investment, taxation and accounting.
From their practical strategies and specially designed loan structures through to their streamlined services and personal approach, they do everything they can to help you up the property ladder, safely and securely.

Sean Herman
‘I like to help people create wealth by introducing clarity to their financial world.’
Sean is a full member of the Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia and a registered Chartered Accountant. Before launching Professional Partners, Sean was a Senior Financial Planner at AXA working with clients to develop and implement financial and investment strategies.
Today in his mortgage broking capacity and Principal at Professional Partners, his breadth of knowledge in tax and finance related issues help him ensure clients have the appropriate loan structures in place to meet their lifestyle goals and objectives.
Sean holds the following qualifications:
- Chartered Accountant (Australia)
Bachelor of Commerce Degree - Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting
- Certificate IV in mortgage broking
- Diploma in Financial Planning
Sean has three children and out of work enjoys jogging and family time.

Craig Schafner
‘I’m passionate about helping my clients realise their property ownership goals.’
Craig is professionally qualified as an Actuary and Mortgage Broker, and is a full member of Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia. He has fifteen years experience in the financial services industry.
Before setting up Professional Partners, Craig worked in the Group Finance area of AXA providing senior management with finance advice. He also spent four years at Alexander Forbes Financial Services advising large multinational clients and mining houses.
Craig holds the following qualifications:
- Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia
- Associate of the Institute of Actuaries (UK)
- Bachelor of Economic Science Degree
- Certificate IV in Mortgage Broking
- Diploma in Financial Planning
Craig has three kids and when he’s not at work you’ll find him spending time with family and friends, riding his bike, swimming or enjoying a good coffee.
